This set is very rare, exquisitely detailed and in very good condition. Authenticity is assured as both are signed J. Ruhl. The bookends depict an old woman at a spinning wheel. She has an ivory painted face and hands and blue eyes.. Her hooded dress is gold. The base is marble. Incredibly, the wheel of the spinning wheel was originally designed to spin, it still moves freely. Each bookend stands 6 1/2" tall, 5" wide, 4 1/4" deep and weighs 3 lbs. 12 oz.. The condition on both is very good. No parts are missing. No cracks, dents, dings, breaks, or, holes. The marble has some chips on the rear. The woman is fully figural and sits tight and level on the base. This set is fabulous.
